POMONA, Calif. - Brigham Young University, Hawaii's Peter Madarassy, the No.2 seed, defeated UC Davis senior Greg Lee, the No.3 seed, 6-1, 6-3, Saturday morning in the semifinals of the 2002 Omni Hotels West Region Men's Tennis Championships.
The match was a repeat of last year's semifinal in which Lee extended Madarassy to a third-set tiebreaker before falling.
Later in the day, Lee and Paul Dilloway, the No.2 seeds, lost to the top-seeded duo of Madarassy and Jan Krejci, 8-3, in the doubles final.
