STOCKTON, Calif. - UC Davis senior Greg Lee lived upo to his No.1 seeding as he defeated Vincent Kubler of Pacific, 7-5, 7-6, in the Flight A Singles final at the Tiger Fall Invitational on Sunday.
Lee advanced through the predominantly Divison I draw without dropping a set in his three matches after receiving an opening-round bye. With his first singles title of the season, Lee improves his 2002 fall record to 8-2.
"Greg played solid all weekend," said Aggie Head Coach Daryl Lee. "It was a good field with mainly Division I opponents, so to see him come away with three victories was exciting."
Lee teammed with Paul Dilloway to reach the doubles final before falling to Santa Clara's Mike Bruggemann and Erich Chen, 8-2.
In consolation singles play, Dilloway reached the Flight A finals before dropping a three-set match agaisnt San Francisco's Mason Fuller, 6-3, 1-6, 6-4. Aggie freshman Nikolai Novikov captured the Flight C consolation singles final with a 6-0, 6-4 win over teammate Eric Holmes.
