MORAGA, Calif. -
The UC Davis duo of sophomore Adam Levie and freshman Alec Adamson punched their ticket to the semifinals of the 2013 USTA/ITA Northwest Regionals hosted by Saint Mary's on Monday morning, recording a dominating victory to continue their run at the Timothy Korth Tennis Complex in Moraga, Calif.
Levie and Adamson defeated the sixth-seeded pairing of Campbell Johnson and Filip Bergevi of California, 8-3, setting up a Tuesday morning duel with eighth-seeded Emmett Egger and Jeff Hawke of Washington, who upset top-seed Bernardo Saraiva and Nils Skajaa of San Francisco, at 11 a.m.
The winner will meet the Golden Bears' ninth-seeded tandem of Chase Melton and Gregory Bayane for the main draw championship later Tuesday at 1:45 p.m. Melton and Bayane defeated the Aggies' team of sophomore Brett Bacharach and freshman James Wade earlier Monday in the quarterfinals by the score of 8-3 and advanced to the semifinals following an 8-2 win over Stanford's John Morrissey and Yale Goldberg.
In all, Levie and Adamson have teamed up to defeat three seeded opponents during their run in the main draw, upsetting the the third-seeded pairing of Maciek Romanowicz and Robert Stinemann from Stanford in the round of 32, the ninth-seeded duo of Michael Hukwo and Reid DeLaubenfels of Portland in the round of 16, as well as Johnson and Bergevi in the quarterfinals on Monday.
