Seattle, Wash. - The UC Davis men's tennis team posted multiple wins in the opening round at the Northwest ITA Regional Championships in Seattle, Wash. Friday at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.
Toki Sherbakov had a bye in the round of 128, while George Horowitz and Kyle Miller each posted two-set wins. Horowitz defeated Seattle's Kevin Lynch, 7-6(5), 7-6(4) and Miller took a 6-4, 6-3 win over Steven Dawson-Roberts of Saint Mary's. Josh Albert also rallied to win a three-set match against Seattle's Mark Shkrebtan, 6-3, 6-7, 6-4.
All four Aggies that advanced to the round of 64 dropped matches. Cal's Andrew Scholnick outlasted Sherbakov in a three-set match, 6-7(9-7), 6-4, 6-2.
The ITA Regionals continue play through the weekend until Tuesday, with two rounds of doubles and a round of singles held on Saturday.
