STOCKTON, Calif. -
UC Davis sophomore Adam Levie claimed the Flight 'C' championship with a pair of wins on Saturday while three other singles players are in championship matches on Sunday to highlight day two action for the Aggies at the 2013 Pacific Tiger Invitational in Stockton.
Levie defeated Sonoma State's Robert Henry in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2, in the semifinals before outlasting Nevada's Robert Allan, 6-2, 7-6 (2) for the title. On the consolation side, freshman James Wade will try and make it a Flight 'A' sweep for the Aggies, meeting Holy Names' Tracy Beblie in the championship at 2 p.m.
Second-seeded senior Kyle Miller in the main draw and freshman Bryce McKelvie in the consolation bracket are in their respective Flight 'B' championship matches at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively, on Sunday. Miller defeated John Stormans of Saint Mary's, 6-4, 6-4, and UC Davis teammate Adam Luba, 6-4, 6-1, in the semifinals to advance, while McKelvie defeated the Gaels' Mathias Olsen after he retired in the second set and moved on to the championship in a walk-over after Sonoma State's Daniel Holz withdrew due to injury.
Miller will meet top-seeded Moez Chargui of Nevada in the main draw championship at 11:30 a.m. while McKelvie will face either Holy Names' Jonah Tahilan or Fresno Pacific's Stefan Loop in the consolation championship at 2 p.m.
In main draw doubles, the top-seeded tandem of Alec Adamson and Levie will meet Nevada's Robert Allan and Moez Chargui in the semifinals at 9 a.m., while the duo of Kelley and McKelvie will face-off against Fresno State's John Daermstaedter and Adriaan DuToit in the other semi. The championship match will begin at 10 a.m.
In the consolation bracket, the tandem of Luba and Miller will meet Fresno Pacific's Stefan Loop and Michael Tymkiw in the semifinal at 9 a.m., with the winner advancing to meet Nevada's Billy Bumgardner and Fernando Sunago in the 10 a.m. championship.
