STOCKTON, Calif. - UC Davis concluded its fall play Sunday with the final day of action at the Pacific Invitational in Stockton. Shaun Garcia picked up the Flight C singles title by default while Daniel Elefant posted two wins on his way to a Flight B consolation title. In all, UC Davis won two of the three singles matches it played in on Sunday while winning twice in doubles.
Sunday's matches began with doubles play. In Flight A, Justin Garcia and his brother Shaun defeated Einar Hart and Thong Tu of San Francisco, 8-6. Henri Landes and Kevin Liang went 1-1 in Flight B. The duo defeated Nevada's Tony Bulich and Gabe Kanzelmeyer, 8-6.
In main draw singles, Shaun Garcia was slated to face Liang in the Flight C final. Liang, however, was forced to sit out the match due to an injury, and Garcia was credited with the victory by default.
The remainder of the Aggies' success came in consolation play. Elefant defeated teammate Tyler Lee, 7-5, 6-1, in the semifinals, and went on to post a 6-2, 6-0 win over USF's Hart in the final.
The tournament was the fourth and final event for the Aggies this fall. UC Davis begins its spring season on Jan. 19.
