Haley, Miller Claim Consolation Doubles Title at Pacific Invite

STOCKTON, Calif. - Alec Haley and Kyle Miller shut out Bryce Purser and Alex Jackson of Modesto Junior College, taking an 8-0 decision in the consolation finals of the Black Doubles division on Sunday at the Pacific Tigers Invitational in Stockton.

The Aggie duo advanced to the consolation finals after a semifinal victory over San Francisco's Germaine Bahri and Johan Samuelson. Haley and Miller claimed an 8-3 win before blanking Purser and Jackson 8-0.

Freshman Adam Levie rolled past Purser in the consolation semifinals of the White singles bracket 6-0, 6-1 to advance to the division's consolation finals. He faced Pacific's Eric Cederwall but dropped a 6-3, 7-6(4) decision.

Levie and Mitch Thorp paired up for a round robin doubles match against Pacific's Sam Verbeek and Trevor James, but fell 8-5.

Haley also competed in a round robin match, taking on Modesto Junior College's Alex Jackson in singles. He claimed the first set 6-1 but dropped set two 6-1 before being edged in the third set 1-0(9). Thorp faced Denis Stolyarov of Pacific in a round robin singles match, falling 6-3, 6-3.

The Pacific Tigers Invitational was the final tournament of the fall for the UC Davis men's tennis team. The Aggies will begin dual match action at Santa Clara on Jan. 19 at 10 a.m.
