UC Davis Travels To Oregon For A Pair Of Matches

DAVIS, Calif. - The UC Davis men's tennis team plays a pair of matches in Oregon this weekend, facing George Fox on Saturday at 3 p.m. before a contest at Portland on Sunday at 10 a.m.  

The Aggies took their first win of the season last week, downing Sonoma State in a home match, 5-2. UC Davis comes into the weekend with a 1-2 overall record and a 0-1 mark in Big West Play, having lost to Pacific 6-1 in its most recent match.

George Fox will play its first match of the season against the Aggies. The match will be played at a neutral site in Beaverton, Ore. at the Tualatin Hills Tennis Center.

Portland starts the week with a 3-0 record after wins over Montana State, UMKC and Idaho. The Pilots managed an upset over No. 56 Idaho in their most recent match with a 5-2 win against the Vandals.

Through three matches, the highlight of the season for the Aggies has been the play of Kyle Miller and Hugo Verdi-Fortin at the No. 1 doubles position. The duo for UC Davis has recorded wins over No. 1 teams from No. 50 Santa Clara and Pacific en route to a 3-0 mark.  

Next weekend, UC Davis will return home for a match with Loyola Marymount on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 12 p.m.
