DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis freshman Kyle Miller has been named the Big West Men's Tennis Co-Athlete of the Week for matches played between Apr. 4 and Apr. 10, it was announced Wednesday by the conference office.
The 5-foot-10 freshman from Pacific Grove, Calif. was 2-0 in singles competition and 1-1 in doubles play. Miller moved up to the No. 3 position in singles competition, helping the Aggies take a 4-3 victory over Gonzaga with a 6-4, 6-2 defeat of Kevin Eischen.
He also won in No. 2 doubles with Toki Sherbakov, taking an 8-4 victory over Ismath/Feeney. Miller was the only UC Davis player to earn a win in a loss at San Francisco, winning in straight sets over Jacob Hartwig, 7-6 (5), 6-4.
The weekly award was the first of Miller's career and the first plaudit for the Aggies this season.
