DAVIS, Calif. - The UC Davis men's tennis program has signed Torsten Keil-Long and Toki Sherbakov to National Letters of Intent, announced head coach Daryl Lee. Keil-Long is from Claremont, Calif. (Claremont HS) while Sherbakov is from Mountain View, Calif. (Mountain View HS).
Entering his senior season, Keil-Long is a two-time Baseline League most valuable player and a three-time first-team All-Baseline member. He has been named Claremont's MVP for the past three years. Last year as a junior, he advanced to the Southern Section semifinals and is currently competing in his senior season. Keil-Long has helped lead the Wolfpack to consecutive first-place finishes in the Baseline League.
"Torsten is a very capable student and solid tennis player," said Lee. "We're looking forward to him making a positive contribution to the team."
Sherbakov, who is still competing in his senior season as well, won a combined 41 matches for Mountain View as a freshman and sophomore. He is a two-time team MVP and was the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League MVP in 2006.
"Toki excels a great deal with his academics and his tennis, and I'm very impressed with his discipline," said Lee.
Sherbakov has been ranked as high as No. 20 this year in Northern California by the USTA in Boys 18 Singles.
