2002: INDOOR ALL-AMERICAN, placing 6th (4:07.65) at NCAA Championships... Set school mile record of 4:07.58 at Washington’s Husky Invitational (300-meter track)... Part of UC Davis’ first-ever indoor distance medley relay that went 10:03.99, also at Husky Invite... Redshirted outdoor season.
2001: OUTDOOR ALL-AMERICAN, placing 4th in 1,500 (3:51.99 prelims)... CCAA CHAMPION in that event, crossing in 3:50.84... Set PR with 2nd-place 3:48.96 at Cal/Nevada State Championships... Was team’s top 5,000 runner with 14:29.13 at UC Berkeley’s Brutus Hamilton Invitational... Had best indoor 1,500 of 4:20.17 at Holiday Inn Classic.
2000: Finished 14th in 5,000 at NCAA Championships (15:20.43)... Automatically qualified for nationals by recording 14:22.84 at Berkeley, best by an Aggie in 2000 and 5th all-time at UC Davis... Placed 2nd in 1,500 (3:51.61), 3rd in 800 (1:53.20) at CCAA Championships... Finished 9th (14:43.10) in 5K at state meet.
1999: Posted season-bests in 1,500 (4:07.24) and 5,000 (15:08.81) at Sacramento State’s Spring Festival.
CROSS COUNTRY: Three-time All-CCAA finisher, placing 8th in 2002, 3rd in 2001, 7th in 2000... Also twice earned All-West Region with 7th-place finish at regionals as a junior and senior... Just missed such honors in 2000, placing 17th... Competed at nationals in each of the last three years.
FOOTHILL HS ’98: Earned first team All-Century League and all-county... Named Knight of the Year.
PERSONAL: Born Apr. 3, 1980 in Orange, Calif.... Applied physics major... Craziest ambition is to set the world record in the 5K... Gets name “JAK” from his initials - John Anthony Kuehn.
