2001: Was team’s top 3,000 runner with 8:24.59 at Chico during opening weekend... Ran season-best 5,000 in 14:30.19 at UC Berkeley’s Brutus Hamilton Memorial Invite.

CROSS COUNTRY: Enjoyed excellent senior season in 2002... Was UC Davis’ lone All-American, placing 29th at nationals... Garnered All-West Region honors (10th) and his fourth All-CCAA award (4th) during the preceding meets... Won first All-America honors as a junior, finishing 33rd... Took 4th at regionals to earn All-West Region distinction that year... Finished 5th at CCAA Championships in 2001, 12th in 2000, 12th in 1999.
CARRILLO HS ’99: Named Redwood Empire Athlete of the Year in track as a senior... Won North Coast Section and state titles in 3,200 that year, posting fifth-best time in Empire history... Won back-to-back section titles in cross country... Finished 11th at state as a junior and senior... Graduated magna cum laude (4.0 GPA).
PERSONAL: Born Nov. 17, 1980 in San Francisco, Calif.... Exercise biology major... Was born three months premature (approx. 2 lbs.) and was expected to have serious physical and educational disabilities... Pre-race rituals includes listening to U2 and crumpling his race number... Lists his first cross country All-America award as his career highlight.
