In the day's first contest, UC Davis took an early lead and then let the defense carry it to victory in defeating Occidental, 14-1. The Aggies took a 7-0 halftime lead before erupting for seven goals in the third period to put the game away.

"Our four victories this weekend were keyed from our defense," Doten continued. "We continue to make progress and have done a very good job of coming out each match and competing the entire game. We improved each game of the tournament and that was nice to see."
