COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Patrick Jacobson scored two goals to lead five Aggies in the scoring column as UC Davis defeated George Washington, 6-4, in the opening match of the Air Force Invitational on Saturday.

With the win, UC Davis improves to 13-8 on the season.

UC Davis jumped out to the early, 3-1, lead following the first quarter then had a slim, 4-3 advantage at halftime. Adjusting to the high altitude of Colorado Springs, UC Davis never trailed at it increased its lead to 5-3 following three quarters before each team scored a goal in the fourth period for the final margin of victory.

In addition to Jacobson's two goals, George Dingeldein, Tom Jay, Joey Sullivan and Aaron Schelegle each scored goals for UC Davis.

"It was a good way to start the tournament," said Aggie Head Coach Steve Doten. "The altitude was a factor and we played the entire bench. We had a great defensive effort and it was good to come away with the victory."

UC Davis was scheduled to play Air Force on Saturday evening. The tournament concludes on Sunday as UC Davis will face UC Santa Cruz and Cal Baptist.
