DAVIS, Calif. -Aaron Salit and Golden Bear attacker Ivan Rackov each scored three goals to lead the scorers in No. 3 California's 13-6 win over No. 12 UC Davis during collegiate men's water polo action at Schaal Aquatics Center Saturday morning.
The Aggies fall to 20-10 for the year. The Bears improve to 18-3.
For Cal, senior Charlie Steffens, junior Marin Balarin, sophomore Prery Short and sophomore Collin Smith each netted two goals to support Rackov.
The Golden Bears never trailed in the contest, taking a 2-0 lead on a natural goal by Steffens and a five-meter penalty shot by Smith at the 3:12 mark. They led 3-1 after the first quarter and 7-2 at the halftime break.
Salit put the Aggies on the board with his 6-on-5 conversion with 2:54 left in the first. He punched in his second with 1:33 remaining in the third, then completed the hat trick by directing a Luke Collins cross pass in the high left corner of the cage with 3:22 to go in the fourth.
The Aggies return to action on Sunday in a road game at No. 4 Stanford. Game time from the Avery Aquatic Center is noon.
