STOCKTON, Calif. - Senior defender Jim Breen scored three goals while junior lefty Matt Richardson added two to lead 16th-ranked UC Davis to a 7-6 win over 15th-ranked Pacific in non-conference collegiate men's water polo action at the Chris Kjeldsen Pool Friday afternoon.

The Aggies improve to 13-14 for the season. The Tigers lose their third straight game, falling to 12-14.

Senior Brendan Sigourney and junior Carlos Martinez each added a goal for UC Davis, which scored three straight goals in the second quarter to craft a 3-2 lead. Sophomore goalkeeper Kevin Peat stopped seven shots in front of the Aggie cage.

For Pacific, freshman Goran Tomasevic and sophomore Tom Koning each had two goals.

Tiger senior Grant Hollis scored the only goal of the first quarter to put the hosts to an early lead. However, Breen converted a pair of Aggie 6-on-5 opportunities in a 3-0 run to give UC Davis a 3-1 edge. Tomasevic then hit a five-meter penalty shot with less than two minutes remaining to cut the lead to one, the Koning and Balazs Szabo each scored early in the third period to provide Pacific with the lead.

The two teams battled to ties of 4-4 and 5-5 in the third period before Breen completed his hat trick less than a minute into the final frame to give UC Davis the lead for good. Richardson scored on an extra-man opportunity to cushion the Aggie edge to two goals with 5:17 remaining.

Friday's win marks the second time UC Davis has scored a mild upset over Pacific during the 2009 season. The Aggies, then ranked No. 18, captured an 11-8 win over the then-No. 10 Tigers at the NorCal Invite in September.

UC Davis competes in its home finale against Santa Clara on Saturday morning. Game time is 10 a.m. at Schaal Aquatics Center.
