WHITTIER, Calif. - Colin Hicks and Chris Richardson each scored two goals for fourth-seeded UC Davis but second-seeded Loyola Marymount scored four goals in the last three minutes to claim third place with an 12-7 win at the Western Water Polo Association Championship at Whittier College's Slade Aquatic Center on Sunday.

The loss ends the Aggies' season with a 14-18 record while LMU, which was upset by third-seeded Air Force in the semifinals on Saturday, finished its year with a 17-10 record after beating UC Davis for the second time this season.

Milotin Miltrovic scored four goals, including two in LMU's final rally, to lead the Lions while John Mikuzis had three.

Jared Clapham gave UC Davis its only lead, scoring less than two minutes into the game, a goal that was matched three minutes later by LMU's Colin Walters. That started a three-goal surge by the Lions who took a 3-1 lead after Emanuel Di Stasio's score with 55 seconds to go in the period.

Trailing 5-2 early in the second quarter, UC Davis put together good defense to hold the Lions scoreless the rest of the half while picking up goals from Stuart Dooley and Richardson to make it a one-goal game at halftime, 5-4.

Hicks and Trevor Allen put together goals 32 seconds apart in the fourth quarter to help UC Davis cut a four-goal deficit to 8-6 with 6:42 to go.

Hicks' goal less than a minute later then brought UC Davis to within 8-7 but Miltrovic scored twice while Mikuzis and Seth Coldren each scored once in the final three minutes to help the Lions pull away.

Philip Bates had 10 saves for the Aggies while Kyle Testman had 11 for LMU.

Senior utility Matt Vowell was later named to the all-tournament first team while Hicks picked up second-team honors. Vowell scored four goals in the Aggies' semifinal battle with top-seeded UC San Diego on Saturday. Hicks tallied two assists, two steals, a field block and a five-meter goal in Friday's first-round win over Santa Clara.
