DAVIS, Calif. - Five UC Davis student-athletes garnered 2013 Men's All-Academic awards from the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches, it was announced by that organization on Tuesday. Alphabetically, the Aggie honorees are junior Trevor Allen, sophomore Alex Bagdasarian, redshirt freshman Jacob Ley, senior Michael Millstein and junior Teddy Nicholson.

To qualify for ACWPC All-Academic recognition, a student-athlete must have competed in at least 50 percent of the team's competitions and held a cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 or higher. The awards program breaks down into three levels: Outstanding (3.71-4.0), Superior (3.41-3.70) and Excellent (3.20-3.40).

Ley, a second-year student in computer engineering, was honored within the Outstanding category. Allen (economics), Bagdasarian (pharmaceutical chemistry) and Millstein (international relations) appeared in the Superior group. Nicholson, a managerial economics major, claimed Excellent honors. This is the second ACWPC All-Academic award for Allen, and the first for the other four Aggies.

Each honoree also captured All-Academic awards from the Western Water Polo Association, announced in early February.

UC Davis went 14-13 overall with a perfect 5-0 record in the conference, finishing 12th in the final national coaches' poll under first-year head coach Daniel Leyson.
