DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis junior utility Ido Goldschmidt captured his first career Kap7 Western Water Polo Association Player of the Week award, the league office announced Wednesday. This is the second straight week that the WWPA’s award went to an Aggie student-athlete, as goalkeeper Jonah Addington garnered the nod on September 20.The managerial economics major from Herzliya, Israel scored 12 goals with seven assists to lead UC Davis to a 10th-place finish at the Mountain Pacific Invitational during the previous weekend. Goldschmidt scored four goals each against the Aggies’ top-10 foes, namely No. 9 Pepperdine and No. 7 UC Santa Barbara. His five-meter penalty goal with 25 seconds remaining in overtime forced the sudden-victory periods in Friday’s thriller with the Waves. Goldschmidt also scored two goals with four assists and three steals in an 18-8 victory over No. 13 UC San Diego, hours after scoring two goals with two assists in a 17-8 win against Air Force.
