LOS ANGELES, Calif. - UC Davis, ranked 16th nationally and owner of an 8-7 record in conference games, earned the No. 5 seed at the Western Water Polo Association men's championship tournament, to be held at Chapman University on Nov. 20-22. The Aggies will open with 13th-ranked and fourth-seeded Santa Clara on Friday at 3:15 p.m.

UC Davis enters the tournament with a 13-15 overall mark.

Loyola Marymount, which went 11-0 in WWPA contests, claimed the top seed. Air Force (17-12, 10-4) nabbed the No. 2 spot, with UC San Diego (12-13, 8-5) and Santa Clara (20-11, 10-4) at Nos. 3 and 4.

The Aggies and Broncos have squared off on three previous occasions during the 2009 season. SCU won the first matchup, 9-4, at the NorCal Invitational; then UC Davis took the second meeting by an 8-7 final. Most recently, the Broncos beat the Aggies on Saturday in a 10-4 decision.

Rounding out the sixth through eighth seeds are Redlands, Whittier and Chapman. Redlands captured the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) title on Sunday with a 4-2 win over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.

The winner of the WWPA tournament earns the conference's automatic qualifier to the National Collegiate Championship, held at Princeton on December 5-6.
