Goldschmidt earns third All-America nod

DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis men’s water polo player Ido Goldschmidt captured third-team All-America honors, as announced by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches. This is the second straight year that the junior utility from Herzliya, Israel, has made the third team. Additionally, Goldschmidt garnered honorable mention as a freshman, making him the first three-time All-American in program history.

Also a first-team All-Western Water Polo Association honoree this season, Goldschmidt led the Aggies in goals (62), assists (43) and total points (105), while adding 30 steals, 13 drawn exclusions and four field blocks. He totaled eight hat tricks for the year, including a five-goal performance at Loyola Marymount. Goldschmidt’s season also included a pair of WWPA Player of the Week nods.

A third-year student in cognitive studies, Goldschmidt ranks 10th on the school season goals list, while his assists total is tied for second with two previous Aggie All-Americans, Matt Vowell and Sean Grab. He will enter his senior season with 160 career goals, eighth on the UC Davis career list.

UC Davis men’s water polo’s list of multiple All-Americans comprises Goldschmidt (2015, 2016, 2017), Aaron Salit (2010, 2011), Nick Arrigo (2006, 2007), Mike McGee (2006, 2007), Patrick Jacobson (2004, 2005), Lance Campbell (1999, 2000), and Kevin Loscotoff (1999, 2000).

The Aggies went 22-7 in 2017 and ranked a program-record eighth in the final national poll.
