FRESNO, Calif. - UC Davis senior Jeremiah Jarvis won all three of his 157-pound matches on Saturday, including a second-period pin against Shane Seibert of Fresno State, as the Aggies went 1-2 in dual matches against Columbia, Northern Iowa and the host Bulldogs.

UC Davis opened with a 24-13 loss to Northern Iowa, rebounded to take down Fresno State 25-12, and then dropped a heart-breaking 21-20 matchup to Columbia. The Aggies are 3-3 after wrestling for the first time since Dec. 18.

Jarvis was the only UC Davis wrestler to participate and go undefeated in all three matches on Saturday and was one of five Aggies to post at least two wins. Besides Jarvis, the other Aggies to earn a pair of victories were Jeff Bristol at 141 pounds, Michael Font at 165, Brandon Bear at 184 and Evan Hendrix at 197 pounds.

Jarvis beat Nick Baima of Northern Iowa in UC Davis' first dual on Saturday, scoring a 14-9 win that gave the Aggies' a 9-9 tie. However, Northern Iowa won the next two bouts at 174 and 184 to open a 20-13 lead and go on for the 24-13 win.

A pin at 3 minutes, 37 seconds by Jarvis against Shane Seibert of Fresno State in the Aggies' middle match helped put them in front 18-3 on their way to the 25-12 victory, while a 9-4 victory against Devin Mesanko of Columbia broke a 15-0 Columbia run to start the match. The Aggies forfeited the opening bout at 125 and were not able to make up the points the rest of the way.

Font and Omar Gaitan also recorded pins in Saturday's rare triple-header. Font took down Justin Barent of Columbia 4:21, while Gaitain pinned Sal Gonzalez of Fresno State with just six seconds to go in the first round of their 133-pound matchup.

Brandon Bear had major decision wins at 184 pounds against Eric Pedretti of Northern Iowa and Sam Kuntz of Columbia, while Font beat Sean Sheets of Fresno State 10-0 for another major decision for UC Davis.

The Aggies return to action on Friday against Boise State beginning at 7 p.m. at Hickey Gym.
