REDMOND, Ore. - Junior Marcos Orozco won the 125-pound division and fellow junior Nexi Delgado won the 141-pound title to lead a group of eight UC Davis wrestlers who earned place-finishes during the Oregon Classic at the Deschutes County Expo Center Saturday.

Orozco won three matches to earn his first tournament title and his third place-finish of the season. During the run he claimed a pin of Aso Palani in 4:54 and a major decision over Marty Eng, 14-2. Orozco had previously placed at the Reno Tournament of Champions and the Kaufman/Brand Open.

Delgado, who also placed at the Kaufman/Brand Open earlier in the season, went 4-0 on the day. He opened the day with a technical fall over Brendan Connelly before claiming decisions in his next three bouts to earn the title.

Sophmore Kyle Dubs at 165 pounds and redshirt freshmen Abe Otrambo at 184 pounds and Barrett Abel at 149 pounds earned their first collegiate place-finishes with second- and third-place showings, respectively. Dubs had a major decision during his run to the championship match, which he had to default due to an injury. Otrambo rebounded from a tough opening-round loss with four straight wins to place third - a streak that included two pins and a major decision. Abel also finished third behind the most impressive run of any Aggie as he put up a 4-1 showing that included three pins and a technical fall.

Senior Francisco Manriquez finished fourth at 133 pounds, and sophomore Drew Maraglia and redshirt freshman Ricky Alcala placed fifth at 157 and 285, respectively, to highlight the Aggies' run at the tournament. Manriquez went 2-2 with a major decision to earn his first place-finish of the season. Maraglia finished 4-2 with two pins and a major decision, while Alcala's first collegiate place-finish featured a 3-2 record and a victory by fall.

The Aggies return home to Hickey Gym next weekend to host Pacific-10 duals with Stanford and Boise State. Friday's dual with the Cardinal begins at 7 p.m.
