Aggies Defeat Virginia Tech To End Action At Virginia Duals

HAMPTON, Va. - Frank Richmond and Eliot Kelly each won by fall to help UC Davis to a 29-14 win over Virginia Tech in the Aggies' final match of the Virginia Duals which are being held Friday, Jan. 13 through Saturday, Jan. 14 at Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, Va.

Omar Gaitan got things started for the Ags winning his second match of the day in a 9-5 decision over Sheridan Moran in the 133-pound match. Frank Richmond followed with his second win by fall of the day, pinning Virginia Tech's Tucker Michels 1:01 into the 165-pound match.

Ken Cook was next up for the Aggies and he posted his third consecutive win of the day with a 14-4 major decision over Steven Ratley. Tyler Bernacchi kept the momentum going for UC Davis as he took a 12-2 major decision win against Mark Czamy in the 184-pound match.

Eliot Kelly rounded out the match highlights for the Ags when he pinned Matt Wood 12 seconds into the 197-pound match-up.

With the win the Aggie season dual record is now 3-5. UC Davis will be in competition next on Saturday, Jan. 21 when they host Pac-10 foe Cal State Bakersfield in a home dual in Hickey Gymnasium at 7 p.m.
