DAVIS, Calif. - Shawn Haratani and Omar Gaitan recorded pins at 149 and 133, respectively, and Derek Moore, Dustin Noack and Eliot Kelly all earned major decisions to lead the UC Davis wrestling team to a dominant 33-9 victory over Pac-10 rival Oregon on Friday afternoon at The Pavilion.

The victory evens the Aggies' overall dual record at 5-5 while they remain perfect in Pac-10 play with a 4-0 record. Oregon now stands at 6-10 overall and 1-6 in conference competition.

Gaitan has now recorded a pin and a major decision in two of his last three matches, which pushes his overall record to 13-6 this season. With the victory already locked up when he took the mat, Gaitan still remained focused. He started with a two-point takedown, which led to a three-point near fall and the eventual pin.

Haratani claimed his first victory by fall of the season as he was able to pin Jeremy McLaughlin in 4:23 after scoring a takedown early in the third period. His win at 149 opened the flood gates for the Aggies.

Moore, ranked third nationally by the NWCA, opened the match at 141 pounds with a major decision as he shutout third-ranked Pac-10 wrestler Justin Pearch by a score of 12-0.

Although he was not victorious, Vincent Durant had one of the most impressive bouts of the day as he jumped up two weight classes to fill in at the 157 division. He was able to keep the match close against Oregon's Kyle Bounds and was in position to earn the victory in the closing seconds, but was unable to score a reversal in the close 4-3 loss.

Noack followed that match with his second major decision of the season, which came by a score of 16-4 against Kyle McCoy and gave the Aggies' a 14-3 lead. Noack continues to solidify his No. 2 Pac-10 ranking with an overall record of 13-7 and 5-1 against conference competition.

After Ken Cook was awarded the forfeit win at 174, the Aggies jumped out to a camanding 20-3 lead heading into the 184 match. Bernacchi regained his form after sitting out over a month and earned a close 6-2 victory over the No. 6-ranked Pac-10 wrestler, Brysen French. Bernacchi was No. 5 coming into the match.

Kelly also returned to his impressive ways at 197 with a 13-3 major decision over Chris Robertson. Kelly entered the match ranked sixth in the Pac-10 and now owns a team-high 18 wins and is 6-2 in conference. His win locked up the victory for UC Davis with an insurmountable 27-3 lead.

The Ducks gained two straight decisions at heavyweight and 125 to run the score to 27-9 before Gaitan's pin at 133 made the final score, 33-9.

UC Davis is back in action tonight at 7 p.m. with a dual against Pac-10 front-runner Oregon State. That match up features a total of 17 wrestlers ranked in the Pac-10 and five ranked nationally. It will also mark the first time brothers and former Iowa Hawkeye legends, Lennie and Jim Zalesky, will meet as opposing Pac-10 head coaches.
