STANFORD, Calif. - UC Davis posted wins in three of the final four bouts on Saturday as the Aggies beat Stanford 21-14 in a Pacific-10 Conference wrestling match hosted by the Cardinal.

UC Davis improved 5-4-1 overall and 4-3-1 in the Pac-10 while Stanford concluded its dual season with an overall record of 5-8-1 and a conference mark of 2-5-1.

UC Davis led the Cardinal 12-9 heading into the sixth match of the evening but Daniel Murphree gave the Aggies some breathing room with a 12-5 win over Luis Vendrell at 149 pounds. That extended the overall lead to 15-9 which was cut to a single point after defending national champion Matt Gentry won a 15-0 technical fall at 3 minutes, 28 seconds over the Aggies' Jesse Padilla.

Frank Richmond then responded for UC Davis, winning a 15-8 decision over Scott Loescher which pushed UC Davis' team led to 18-14 heading into the final bout of the night which went to the Aggies' Ronnie Silva at 174 with an 11-8 win over Imad Kharbush.

UC Davis and Stanford split the first four matches - putting the teams in an early 6-6 tie - with Brandon Bear beating Ryan Hagen 6-1 in the first match at 184 pounds while Flynn Ficker had an 8-4 over Shawn Ritzenthaler at 285.

The Cardinal earned its first two wins by Larry Ozowara at 197, who beat Reed Shelger 7-5 in sudden victory while Nathan Peterson had a 4-2 decision over Pancho Manriquez at 125. Derek Moore earned six key points for the Aggies when he received a forfeit at 133, giving UC Davis a 12-6 lead heading into Chris Hayworth's 12-6 victory over Jeff Bristol at 149 that brought Stanford to with 12-9 heading into the stretch run.



UC Davis will be in action again when it travels to face Oregon State in a Pac-10 matchup on Friday.
