SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Fifteenth-ranked Brandon Low and No. 16 Ricky Alcala each picked up victories for UC Davis on Friday night but No. 16 Cal Poly posted wins in the remaining eight matches on its way to a 34-7 Pac-10 wrestling match at Mott Gym.

UC Davis dropped to 3-11 overall and 1-5 in the Pac-10 while the Mustangs finished their dual-meet schedule with an 8-4 overall mark and a 5-2 league record.

After Cal Poly senior Micah Ferguson beat the Aggies' Chris Armendariz 9-4 at 125 pounds in the dual's first match, Low, wrestling at 133 pounds, evened the match with a 6-3 decision over eighth-ranked Boris Novachkov. The bout was the only matchup of the evening featuring ranked wrestlers.

Cal Poly, though, went on to capture the next seven matches before Alcala won a 14-5 major decision over Jim Powers in the 285-pound match, the final bout of the meet. UC Davis' Joey Wilson lost a tough 3-1 matchup to Steven Vazquez at 165 while sophomore Rory McBride was beaten 9-5 at 185 by Kelan Bragg in another close decision.

UC Davis returns to action on Saturday at Cal State Bakersfield in its final dual of the season. The Aggies will host the Pac-10 Championships at The Pavilion on Feb. 26-27.
