CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State won five of the match's final six bouts on Friday night, erasing the Aggies' early lead, as the Beavers beat UC Davis 27-13 in a Pac-10 Conference wrestling dual at Gill Coliseum.

Oregon State improved to 12-8-1 overall and 7-2-1 in conference action while the Aggies dropped to 5-5-1 overall and 4-4-1 in the Pac-10. Derek Moore (133), Jeff Bristol (141), Daniel Murphree (149) and Brandon Bear (184) each captured wins for the Aggies.

The Beavers jumped to an early 6-0 lead after Eric Stevenson opened the match with a pin against the Aggies' Pancho Manriquez at 4 minutes, 43 seconds of their bout at 125 pounds. However, trailing 6-0, UC Davis would win the next three matches to take a 10-6 lead. Moore started the run with a 12-0 major decision against Bobby Pfennigs, Bristol continued with a close 7-5 victory over Tim Norman at 141 and Daniel Murphree posted a 12-7 win against Orlando Perez at 149 pounds.

Oregon State, though, wrestling its final home dual of the season, battled back to take victories in five of the final six bouts. Included were Tony Hook's pin in the first period against Bryan Bachar at 157 pounds and Jeremy Larson's 11-5 upset against Ronnie Silva at 174. Silva, who suffered his first loss of the season, is the top-ranked wrestler in his weight class in the Pac-10.

UC Davis was behind 18-10 before Brandon Bear snapped the Beavers' rally with a 6-4 decision over Dan Pitsch at 184. Wins by Travis Gardner at 197 and Ty Watterson at heavyweight gave Oregon State its fi

nal margin of victory. UC Davis returns to action on Saturday night when it hosts Fresno State in a nonconference dual beginning at 7 p.m. at Hickey Gym.
