DAVIS, Calif. - Wyoming's Dusty Hoffschneider scored a 9-1 major decision over UC Davis' Evan Hendrix at heavyweight in Saturday's final match as the No.25 Cowboys rallied froma 15-3 deficit to edge the Aggies 20-19 in a nonconference wrestling match at Hickey Gym.

UC Davis, which lost its second consecutive dual in as many nights by just one point, finished the dual meet portion of its season with 6-9 overall record. Wyoming improved to 9-5. The Aggies, who lost 18-17 at nationally ranked Cal Poly on Friday night, will now prepare for the Pacific-10 Conference Championships beginning Feb. 29 at Arizona State.

Wyoming rallied with wins in the final two weight classes on Saturday night to score the come-from-behind win. Fifteenth-ranked Kevin Kessner beat the Aggies' Michael Clarkston by a 10-4 score at 197 pounds to cut UC Davis' lead to 19-16 before Hoffschneider, ranked 16th nationally, picked up four points in the final period against Hendrix to turn a 5-1 lead into a 9-1 that resulted in a four-point major decision.

The late rally helped the Cowboys bounce back from an early deficit. Tommy Schurkamp opened the night with an 11-5 win against Barrett Duell at 125 pounds before Derek Moore pinned Tyson Shatto less than a minute into their 133-pound match, putting UC Davis in front 9-0 quickly.

After Blake Gunter got Wyoming on the scoreboard with a 7-2 victory against Cris Brines at 141 pounds, UC Davis opened a 15-3 lead after the Cowboys forfeited at 149. Sixteenth-ranked Andrew Shuler then beat 20th-ranked Jeremiah Jarvis of UC Davis by a score of 6-4 at 157 to bring the Cowboys to within 15-6 while a 12-4 major decision by 16th-ranked Levi Prevost against Michael Font at 165 cut the Aggies' lead to just 15-10.

Wyoming's Trevor Murray cut the lead even more by edging the Aggies' Frank Richmond, 3-2, gaining the point differential with 3 minutes, 49 seconds of riding time. The Aggies' Brandon Bear earned his 19th win of the year - and his 14th straight - as he scored a 12-4 major decision against Sam Wendland, giving UC Davis a 19-13 lead abd its last bout win before the Cowboys' rally.

The Aggies finished seventh at last year's conference championships with Jarvis winning the program's first-ever Pac-10 title. He also earned a trip to the NCAA Championships for the second consecutive year.
