TEMPE, Ariz. - Top-seeded Tommy Schurkamp of UC Davis won two matches on Sunday and will wrestle against sixth-seeded Jesse Miramontes of Cal State Fullerton on Monday for the 125-pound title at the Pacific-10 Conference Championships at Arizona State.

UC Davis scored 49 points on the first day and is in eighth place, trailing Oregon State, which is in third, by 8.5 points. Boise State has 81 points to lead the championships while Stanford is second with 70.5.

Schurkamp - who has automatically qualified for the NCAA Division I Championships at St. Louis in mid-March - is one five Aggies still alive at the two-day tournament. Derek Moore (133), Jeremiah Jarvis (157), Frank Richmond (174), Brandon Bear (184) and Michael Clarkston (197) dropped into the wrestleback brackets on Sunday and each need to win two matches on Monday for third-place finishes.

The top three finishers in each weight class plus 11 wildcards will earn berths to the national championships.

Schurkamp advanced with a technical fall win over Zac Enoch of Portland State in his first match before recording a 10-4 victory against fifth-seeded Tanner Gardner of Stanford in the semifinals. Miramontes advanced to the championship with a first-round upset pin against second-seeded Efren Ceballos of Cal State Bakersfield.

Schurkamp's berth in Monday's championship marks the fourth straight year that UC Davis has advanced a wrestler to a title bout. Jarvis won the program's first-ever conference championship last season.
