ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Sophomore Brandon Low and senior Marcos Orozco were both eliminated in the wrestleback brackets to complete their run for UC Davis at the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships Friday afternoon at the Scottrade Center.
UC Davis scored a total of 2.5 points at the tournament to finish in a tie for 55th overall. Ohio State took over the team lead after the third session with 61.5 points.
Low won his first match of the day by a 7-3 decision over Pac-10 Conference opponent and 15th-ranked Filip Novachkov of Cal Poly. Low's victory avenged three previous losses to Novachkov. In his next match, Low lost his second two-point decision of the tournament, 5-3, to No. 8 seed Joe Baker of Navy. Low finished 2-2 overall in his first trip to the NCAA Championships.
Orozco lost his opening match 10th-seeded Scotti Sentes of Central Michigan to finish 1-2 at the tournament. His lone win gives him 70 for his four-year career and ranks him fifth all-time.
Overall this season, the Aggies boast the distinction of improving their place finishes at the conference and the national tournament.
