DAVIS, Calif. --- UC Davis captured victories in nine weight classes -- including pins by sophomore Ronnie Silva, junior Mike Font and senior Urijah Faber -- to defeat Menlo College in the first of two collegiate wrestling dual matches at Hickey Gym Friday night.

Silva was the first Aggie to claim victory, building a 10-point lead en route to a win by fall in 5:37 over Justin Enright at 184 pounds. Faber picked up his six points at 133 pounds against Isaac Pumarejo. The returning Pacific 10 Conference runner-up did not score until the final minute of the first period, but piled up six points in the second period then finished the bout with a pin at the 4:43 mark.

At 165 pounds, Font scored the quickest victory of the match, finishing off Eddie Lucatero in just 2:13.

Other highlights including Tommy Schurkamp's 20-4 major decision over Ricky Aguirre at 125 pounds and Jeremiah Jarvis' sudden victory of Joey Martinez at 157s.

The Oaks scored their only win at 285 pounds. UC Davis' Jason Paul picked up a takedown with 50 seconds remaining in the bout, but Ben Flores responded with a reversal six seconds later to claim a 5-4 decision.

The Aggies continue action against Pac-10 opponent Cal St. Fullerton for the 7 p.m. match Friday.
