DAVIS, Calif. --- Juan Mora picked up a 22-8 major decision at 141 pounds and Chris Carlino added a 22-9 major in the 174-pound finale to highlight Cal State Fullerton's 20-14 win over UC Davis in a Pacific-10 Conference dual wrestling match at Hickey Gym Friday evening in front of 445.

The Aggies, who defeated Menlo College earlier that night, move to 2-1 on the season. The Titans, also winners over the Oaks in earlier Friday action, improve to 2-0 for the year.

"We got down early in a couple of matches and had to come back. We need to get better about hitting on offense," said Aggie head coach Lennie Zalesky. "I thought we wrestled really tough. We just had some letdowns at certain weight classes."

Down 6-0 to start the match, UC Davis rebounded with three straight wins as Jason Paul picked up a 4-1 decision over Edgar Hernandez at 285 pounds, Tommy Schurkamp scored an 18-5 major over Robert Valenzuela at 125, and Urijah Faber added another four team points with his 19-8 win over David Rodriguez at 133 pounds. The Aggies led 11-6 at that point.

The Titans trimmed the margin to a single point on Juan Mora's 22-8 major at 141 pounds, then regained the lead as Woodland native Brett Gordon claimed a 6-4 overtime win over Nick Davis at 149s.

Despite the loss, Davis had perhaps the gutsiest performance of the match. A late takedown by Gordon forced the Aggie junior to take a 75-second injury timeout. In obvious pain and seemingly on the verge of taking an six-point injury forfeit, Davis instead stayed in the bout and scored a go-ahead takedown with six seconds remaining in regulation. However, Gordon's advantage in riding time forced a 4-4 tie and an overtime period. The Titan junior then picked up a two-point takedown 35 seconds into the fourth period to claim the win.

UC Davis took a 14-13 lead when 157-pounder Jeremiah Jarvis recorded a two-point takedown and a three-point near fall midway through the second period en route to a 6-1 decision. However, Risto Martinnen survived a late surge by Mike Font at 165 pounds to win 10-8. Carlino's major at 174 finished off the Titans team victory at 20-14.

The Aggies return to action with a dual at Wyoming on November 26.
