DAVIS, Calif. - The UC Davis women's gymnastics and wrestling teams will host a unique evening Friday when they compete simultaneously during the "Beauty and the Beast" promotion at Recreation Hall.

Competition for both teams begins at 7 p.m. with the gymnastics squad opening their season with a triangular meet against Wisconsin-Oshkosh and Springfield, Mass., while the wrestling squad battles Oregon in a Pac-10 Conference matchup.

The Aggie wrestlers will battle 21st-ranked Cal State Bakersfield in another conference matchup earlier on Friday. The match against the Roadrunners was moved to 4 p.m. from 5 p.m. in order to accomodate the "Beauty and the Beast" promotion later in the evening.

Competition for both teams will take place on the floor of Recreation Hall with the wrestlers facing the Ducks on one side and the gymnastics team competing at the same time in its triangular meet on the other.

The UC Davis wrestling team - which will host the Aggie Open on Saturday at Recreation Hall - enters the weekend with a 3-4 dual meet record and a 1-1 mark in the Pac-10.
