DAVIS, Calif. - The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) announced Thursday that UC Davis senior 165-pound wrestler Dustin Noack has earned a spot on its 2008-09 Division I All-Academic Team. Noack adds the NWCA honors to four straight Pac-10 Conference All-Academic accolades.

In order to be eligible for the all-academic teams, student-athletes must own at least a 3.2 cumulative GPA, have qualified for the NCAA Championships or won 60 percent of their total matches and be a major contributor to their team. Student-athletes also qualify with a 3.0 GPA and All-America status. Noack was one of 73 wrestlers from 45 institutions to earn the distinction.

Noack completed his final season with the Aggies with an overall record of 12-8 along with an 8-4 mark against conference opponents, two pins and three major decisions. Injuries forced the 2007 conference runner-up to default out of the conference championships for the second consecutive season.

Academically, Noack excelled with a 3.51 GPA as an animal science major. He was named first-team Pac-10 All-Academic the past two seasons as well as earning second-team honors as a sophomore and freshman.

UC Davis finished 4th at the conference championships and sent three wrestlers to the NCAA tournament.
