FULLERTON, Calif. - Jessica Campbell posted a double-double on Thursday with 21 points and 10 rebounds and UC Davis held host Cal State Fullerton to just two points for nearly all of the final 12 minutes as the Aggies rolled to a convincing 77-45 Big West Conference women's basketball win at Titan Gym.

The Aggies won their third straight game for the second time this season, improving to 9-7 overall and 3-1 in the Big West. Three Aggies scored in double figures, a trio that included redshirt freshman Paige Mintun who had 12 points in her first game since Dec. 9, Haylee Donaghe who scored 11 and Monica Mertle who finshed with 10.

The Titans were led by Toni Thomas who scored 13 points but was held below her league-leading 18.5 ppg average. Cal State Fullerton fell to 2-13 overall and 1-3 in league play.

UC Davis led 55-43 after the Titan's Alison Bennett scored on a jumper with 11 minutes, 59 seconds to go, but that would be Cal State Fullerton's final basket until Montoya Fontenot laid in a bucket with just 21 seconds remaining. The Titans missed 20 consecutive shots before their final score.

The Aggies, meanwhile, continued to build their lead the rest of the way that was 45-30 at halftime and swelled to as much as 55-36 before the Titans rallied to within a dozen, setting the stage for UC Davis to pull away.

"We made really good reads as to when they were taking (drives) away, and when we had to kick it out or when to take it all the way to the hoop," said Aggie coach Sandy Simpson. "And then when we got there we were finishing. It was really a lot of good decision-making by everybody on the team."

Simpson also credited the return of Mintun for helping the Aggies get into a good rhythm. Mintun had not played since early December due to a foot injury but returned on Thursday to hit 6 of 10 shots from the field, grab five rebounds and pick up two assists and two steals to go with a blocked shot.

"Aside from bringing her abilities and skills to the game she allows us to put other people at their best position of strength," he said. "So, there's a little bit of domino effect and that's what you saw tonight. When Paige went in we got into our regular rotation."

UC Davis shot 50.9 percent from the field in the game, connecting onf 29 of 57 from the field, and was a perfect 13 of 13 from the line. The Aggies also outrebounded an opponent for just the third time this season, owning a 41-31 advantage on the boards.

Campbell was 7 of 11 from the field, knocked down a pair of three-pointers and had three assists and a steal alongside her double-digit rebounding effort.

UC Davis trailed 10-5 early in the game but Genevieve Costello's three-pointer tied the game at 10-10 while Campbell's layup with 14:09 left in the half gave the Aggies the lead for good at 14-13. A pair of free throws from Anna Harp made it a 10-point game midway while Commins' layup with 3:52 left gave UC Davis its biggest lead before halftime at 41-25.

The Aggies' largest lead of the second half came in the final minute of the game at 77-43 after Costello's second trey.

Cal State Fullerton shot just 30.2 percent from the field including 20.6 percent after halftime. Ashley Richie had 10 points for the Titans while Daviyonn Weathersby had six assists. Donaghe had six dishes for UC Davis.

The Aggies wil return to action on Saturday when they visit UC Irvine for a 2 p.m. Big West Conference game.
