DAVIS, Calif. -- UC Davis sophomore guard Kourtney Eaton finished with a game-high 18 points on 7-of-11 from the field, while the Aggies' defense stifled visiting Stanislaus State to the tune of 19 percent shooting for the game, closing out an, 84-47, exhibition victory over the Warriors on Friday night at The Pavilion.

UC Davis picked up its second exhibition victory of the season and now awaits its regular season opener on Nov. 11, hosting the University of Portland at 7 p.m.

"The focus for us is trying to put more pressure on the ball, try to make people a bit more uncomfortable," Head Coach Jennifer Gross said. "We were able to force them into some turnovers tonight that helped us gain a little bit more momentum."

Eaton added five rebounds and four assists (against only one turnover) in 22 minutes and was joined in double figures by sophomore Morgan Bertsch, who narrowly missed out on a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds in 22 minutes.

The Warriors were led by Cassidy Sanders-Curry, who finished with a team-high nine points and nine rebounds as no Stanislaus State player finished in double figures.

Leading by 15 at the break, UC Davis exploded for a 15-0 run to start the second half, bursting out to a 30-point, 55-25, lead at the third quarter media timeout. A free throw by Brittney Livingston out of the break snapped the Warriors scoreless run, but the Aggies went on to hold Stanislaus State to without a field goal for the entire third quarter (0-for-12), and the first 43 seconds of the fourth until Sanders-Curry nailed a three-pointer.

"I thought did a good job of handling their pressure tonight," Gross said. "We were forced into playing some lineups that don't normally play together because we got into foul trouble early, but I feel like our players stepped up and adjusted well. We're still learning, but I thought we made a lot of plays and I was really pleased with the way we found each other against their press and how we finished."

In all, the UC Davis defense limited the Warriors to just five field goals in the second half and forced the visitors into 21 turnovers for the game, turning those in 32 points.

The Aggies led for all but two minutes and 21 seconds, using a Rachel Nagel three-pointer to erase a two-point deficit early on, the start of a 14-0 run that sprinted UC Davis out to a 12-point, 16-4 lead with 3:52 remaining in the opening quarter. Stanislaus State never got closer than 11 points the rest of the way, despite nearly matching the Aggies in scoring (16-14) during the second quarter.

Junior Marly Anderson finished with six of the Aggies' game-high 10 blocks to go with seven rebounds off the bench, while UC Davis led the way on the glass with a 52-48 rebounding advantage, helped along by freshman Sophia Song, who shared game-high honors with nine rebounds herself, to go with her eight points.
