STANFORD, Calif. -- Sophomore Morgan Bertsch logged her 15th consecutive double-digit scoring performance to go with seven rebounds, but visiting UC Davis was limited to just 23 percent shooting from the field for the game as No. 11 Stanford defeated the Aggies, 68-42, on Sunday afternoon at Maples Pavilion.

In a battle of one-loss teams, UC Davis fell to 5-2 overall on the season in its final contest before final exams, as Bertsch scored 10 of her team-high total in the second half, narrowly missing out on her second double-double of the year. She has scored in double figures in all seven of the team's games this year.

Junior Pele Gianotti capped off a well-rounded outing with five points, a team-high eight rebounds, and shared team-high honors in assists with four alongside sophomore teammate Kourtney Eaton, who added five points and five rebounds.

Paced by Erica McCall's 17 points and 13 rebounds, and 11 more from Brittany McPhee, the Cardinal improved to 8-1 on the year with the win.

Stanford, which shot 44 percent overall from the floor for the game, scored the first six points of the game before junior Dani Nafekh, coming off a school single-game record-tying eight three pointers against San Diego State on Friday, drained a three-pointer from the corner to get the Aggies on the board. From there, an 8-0 Cardinal run turned into a 14-2 burst by Stanford for a 15-point advantage before Gianotti drained a three-pointer of her own right before the end of the quarter.

Bertsch opened the second with her only basket of the first half and Kourtney Eaton and Rachel Nagel followed with baskets of their own to cut the deficit back to single digits just three minutes into the quarter, but a 12-0 run by the Cardinal rebuilt the team to 20 points with just over two minutes remaining before the half and they carried a, 36-20, advantage into the locker room at the break.

After a slow third quarter that saw the teams combine for just five makes from the field, the Aggies chipped away early in the fourth, using a 7-0 run to climb back to with, 55-36, midway through the quarter, but UC Davis would come no closer as the two teams settled for trading baskets down the stretch.

Following a week of final exams, UC Davis returns to The Pavilion for its final home game of the calendar year, hosting Saint Mary's on Sunday (Dec. 11) at 2 p.m. The Aggies then open a stretch of six games away from home on Dec. 14 at Oregon State.
