SILVER CITY, N.M. - Sarah Allen scored 19 points to lead four Aggies in double figures as UC Davis completed back-to-back victories over Western New Mexico with a 79-71 win Tuesday night in front of a crowd of 100 at Mustang Fieldhouse.

With the win the Aggies improve to 3-2 on the season while the Mustangs fall to 2-6.

Unlike Monday night when the Aggies handed the Mustangs a 21-point loss, it was Western New Mexico that held a two-point halftime lead at 37-35. In the second half, though, the Aggies made 12 of 13 free throws and shot 44 percent from the field while holding the Mustangs to 41 percent shooting. The result was a 10-point second-half swing for UC Davis, giving the Aggies the final margin of victory.

Allen led the team for the third straight game as she connected on seven of 11 shots from the field, along with four free throws, for her 19 points. Senior Colleen Turnbull added 15 points and seven rebounds while freshman Jackie Turpin and junior Jennifer Decuir each scored 12 points.

Amy Kaaiakamanu scored a game-high 23 points for the Mustangs, including five three-pointers, to lead five Mustang players in double figures. Ivana Stojkovic added 11 points and 12 rebounds.

UC Davis returns to California Collegiate Athletic Association play this Saturday when it hosts Chico State in a 7 pm matchup at Rec Hall.
