OPENING TIPS
• After playing eight of the last 10 games on the road, the UC Davis women's basketball team returns to The Pavilion for three straight contests, beginning with a weekend series against Cal State Northridge and Long Beach State.
• UC Davis split its weekend games against UC Riverside and UC Irvine, taking a 70-53 win over the Highlanders before falling to the Anteaters by a narrow 60-54 margin.
• Cal State Northridge is one of just two teams who remain unbeaten in Big West play... The Matadors are 3-0 in conference games and are off to their best league start since the 2004-05 season.
• Long Beach State dropped its first Big West contest on Saturday, falling 75-70 to Cal State Northridge.
• Aggie senior Kasey Riecks is just 18 points away from reaching 1,000 for her career.

ALL-TIME VS. CAL STATE NORTHRIDGE
• UC Davis owns a 14-10 series advantage, dating back to the 1970-71 season.
• The Aggies won both games against the Matadors last year, winning 78-56 in Davis and 56-44 in Northridge.
• UC Davis has won the last four straight meetings with Cal State Northridge last winning on Mar. 11, 2009 in the first round of the Big West Conference Tournament.

ALL-TIME VS. LONG BEACH STATE
• The series between the Aggies and the 49ers stands at a slim 9-8 margin in favor of Long Beach State.
• The teams split last year's meetings with each team winning on their own home court... The Aggies topped the 49ers 85-67, then fell 60-59 in Long Beach after a late free throw sealed the win for the 49ers.
• Long Beach State's victory marked their first win over UC Davis since the 2008-09 season.

HEAD COACHES
Jennifer Gross was named UC Davis' head coach on Oct. 8, 2010 after Sandy Simpson announced his retirement after 14 seasons... Gross was a Kodak All-American honorable mention point guard for the Aggies during her senior season in 1997-98... Prior to her appointment as head coach, she was an assistant at San Diego State before returning to her alma mater in 2004.

• Jason Flowers arrived at Cal State Northridge for the 2010-11 season after serving as an assistant coach with fellow Big West Conference affiliate UC Riverside... In his debut season with the Matadors, Cal State Northridge doubled its win total against league opponents from the previous season... This year, Cal State Northridge is off to its best league start since the 2004-05 season.

• Jody Wynn is entering her third season with Long Beach State and has guided the 49ers to back-to-back postseason appearances in each of her first two seasons... The 49ers advanced to the Big West Tournament quarterfinals in her first year and had two players named to the all-conference team in 2010-11.

CAL STATE NORTHRIDGE SCOUTING REPORT
• The Matadors are off to their best start to league play since the 2004-05 season and are 3-0 in Big West games.
• Senior Jasmine Erving had her sixth double-double of the season in Cal State Northridge's win at Long Beach State... She finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds... She enters the weekend averaging 14.7 points and 8.5 rebounds per game, ranking her third and second, respectively in the Big West.
• The Matadors are averaging 11.1 steals per game, ranking them second in the league and 48th in Div. I.

LONG BEACH STATE SCOUTING REPORT
• The 49ers hit the road for the first time in six games and last played away from Walter Pyramid on Dec. 11, suffering a 66-42 loss at Arizona.
• In the six-game stretch of home games, Long Beach State went 4-2 with wins over UC Riverside and UC Irvine to open Big West play... Most recently, the 49ers dropped a 75-70 decision to Cal State Northridge on Saturday.
• Senior Tipesa Moorer has reached double figures in scoring in 12 of Long Beach State's 16 games... She has two double-doubles on the year and is averaging 11.9 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.

LAST TIME OUT
• UC Davis picked up its first Big West Conference win of the year, taking a 70-53 victory over UC Riverside on Jan. 5... Samantha Meggison scored 11 points and Kasey Riecks added 10.
• The Aggies then fell to UC Irvine for just the second time ever, narrowly dropping a 60-54 decision at the Bren Events Center... Kasey Riecks finished with 14 points and seven rebounds while freshman Sydnee Fipps added 10, shooting 2-of-3 from three-point range.

GAME TIME CHANGES ANNOUNCED
• UC Davis' Feb. 9th contest against UC Irvine at The Pavilion will begin at 5 p.m.
• The Feb. 11th game against UC Riverside is set for a 1 p.m. tip off.

WELCOME BACK
• The weekend series at UC Riverside and UC Irvine marked the return of senior Lauren Juric and sophomore Kelsey Beard who each sat out the first half of the year due to injury.
• In her first games back, Juric averaged 18.0 minutes per game, grabbed five rebounds and had two blocks.
• Beard scored in the final minutes against UC Riverside on Thursday and recorded a steal in Saturday's game at UC Irvine.
• The duo is UC Davis' tallest players with Juric standing at 6-2 and Beard at 6-3.

AGGIES RANKED 107th IN LATEST NCAA RPI
• UC Davis women's basketball dropped from 87th to 107th in the latest NCAA RPI, which was released Jan. 9.
• The Aggies debuted in the RPI, which is calculated based on wins, losses and strength of schedule, at No. 87 out of 342 teams.
• Pacific is the highest ranked Big West Conference team at No. 106.

KEEPING UP WITH KASEY
• Senior Kasey Riecks is just 18 points away from reaching 1,000 in her career after scoring in double figures against both UC Irvine and UC Riverside.
• She officially reached 900 career points after scoring 12 points at Saint Mary's on Dec. 10.

SHINODA SHINES
• UC Davis junior Blair Shinoda had a solid weekend for UC Davis against UC Riverside and UC Irvine... She averaged 9.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game and shot 46 percent from the floor (7-of-15)... She was also 5-of-6 from the free throw line.
• Against UC Irvine on Saturday, she recorded a career-high three blocks.

ASANO'S ASSISTS
• Senior guard Hana Asano now officially ranks tenth all-time on UC Davis' career assist list with 254, passing `93 alum Suzy Charles (250).
• She can move into ninth all-time with 21 more assists to take over Jessica Campbell's spot who finished with 274.

STEALING THE SHOW
Hana Asano is also eighth all-time in career steals with 168... In seventh is 2006 alum Jackie Turpin with 201 career steals.
• Asano will soon be joined by senior Samantha Meggison who has a team-leading 33 steals this season and 146 for her career.
• Meggison can move into tenth all-time with just 10 more steals.
• Meggison ranks fourth in the Big West in steals while Asano is tied for eighth... Hannah Stephens is sixth.

BATTLE OF THE BOARDS
• For the first time all season, UC Davis outrebounded an opponent, grabbing 36 boards to UC Riverside's 32.
• UC Davis also tied UC Irvine in rebounds with each team grabbing 41 apiece.

HOME SWEET HOME
• After playing 8-of-10 on the road, UC Davis returns to The Pavilion for three straight games, which matches the longest homestand of the season.
• The Aggies played three straight at home at the start of the season, facing San Jose State, Wichita State and San Francisco... UC Davis won all three games.
• UC Davis is 4-1 at home in 2011-12 after suffering its first home loss of the year to Cal State Fullerton on Dec. 31.
• In its Div. I era, UC Davis is 41-18 overall in games played at The Pavilion.
