League-Leading Matadors Edge Aggies in Thriller
Samantha Meggison hit a career-high 11 free throws en route to 19 points, but Cal State Northridge rallied with just four minutes left in the game to claim a 63-60 women's basketball victory in a thriller at The Matadome in Northridge on Saturday.

Aggies Stage Huge Comeback to Win Rainbow Wahine Shootout
Kasey Riecks led all players with 16 points and the UC Davis women's basketball team received 23 points from its bench players as the Aggies rallied to claim a 62-57 victory over Hawai'i, winning the Chevron Rainbow Wahine Shootout on Tuesday in Honolulu.

OPENING TIPS
• After playing five of its last six games on the road, UC Davis returns to The Pavilion to host Cal State Northridge on Thursday at 7 p.m... The Aggies then host Hawai'i on Saturday at 2 p.m.
• UC Davis looks to snap a five-game losing streak after dropping contests at Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara last weekend... The Aggies return to The Pavilion for the first time since Dec. 28.
Cortney French poured in a career-high 26 points at Cal Poly on Jan. 10, hitting 6-of-8 from three-point range... Five of her six treys came in the second half.
• UC Davis posted one of its best shooting nights of the year at Cal Poly... The Aggies shot at .510 clip from the field and also went 11-of-11 from the free throw line.
• Cal State Northridge sits atop the Big West standings at 4-0 and has won five of its last six games, including a 77-72 win over then-No. 12 UCLA at Pauley Pavilion.
• Hawai'i returns to the Big West Conference after 16 seasons with the Western Athletic Conference and is 3-1 to start its first year back... Hawai'i was a member of the Big West previously from 1988-89 until 1995-96.
• The Rainbow Wahine have won the last three straight games after opening the Big West schedule with an 83-74 loss at Cal State Fullerton.

HEAD COACHES
Jennifer Gross begins her second season as head coach of the UC Davis women's basketball team after leading the Aggies to their third consecutive postseason appearance in 2011-12... In her first year at the helm of the program, the Aggies saw several milestones including Kasey Riecks' 1000th career point and Samantha Meggison and Hannah Stephens' selections to the All-Big West Conference team.

• Jason Flowers is the reigning 2011-12 Big West Conference Coach of the Year after leading Cal State Northridge to a 17-14 overall record, the best turnaround from a previous year in the nation... The Matadors earned an at-large berth to the WNIT, just the second postseason trip in the school's Div. I history.

• Laura Beeman begins her first season at Hawai'i after spending two seasons as an assistant coach at USC... Prior to 2010, she was the head coach at Mt. San Antonio College from 1994-2010 where she led the Mounties to 10 conference championships and four state championships... She also served one season as an assistant with the WNBA's Los Angeles Sparks.

SCOUTING CAL STATE NORTHRIDGE
• Cal State Northridge brings its 4-0 Big West record to The Pavilion on Thursday after sweeping Long Beach State (73-52) and UC Irvine (59-48) at the Matadome.
• Ashlee Guay is the Matadors' leading scorer with 15.0 points per game while Marta Masoni is averaging 13.9 points per game.
• Masoni, a freshman from Taranto, Italy, ranks 12th in the nation in three pointers per game (3.1) and is 19th in field goal percentage (43.1).
• Sophomore Camille Mahlknecht is Cal State Northridge's leading rebounder at 8.3 boards per game.
• She also has 36 blocks on the year and set a Matador single-game Div. I record with eight swats against San Francisco on Dec. 5... She leads the Big West in blocks.

ALL-TIME SERIES
• UC Davis owns a 15-11 series advantage over Cal State Northridge after sweeping the series in 2009-10 and 2010-11... UC Davis has won nine of the last 12 meetings.
• The Aggies won the first matchup of 2011-12 but the Matadors claimed the second meeting to snap UC Davis' five-game winning streak.

SCOUTING HAWAI'I
• The Rainbow Wahine is 3-1 in the Big West in their first year back in the league after a 16-year stint with the Western Athletic Conference.
• Hawai'i has won the last three straight games and five of its last seven and are tied for second place in the Big West with Cal Poly.
• Kamilah Martin is averaging 15.9 points and 9.9 rebounds per game and needs just 34 points to hit the 1,000 career point milestone.
• Rookie guard Ashleigh Karaitiana is second on the team with 8.9 points per game... She and Martin are the only two Rainbow Wahine to start all 15 games this year.

ALL-TIME SERIES
• Saturday's game marks just the third meeting between UC Davis and Hawai'i.
• Last year, UC Davis and Hawai'i met as part of the Chevron Rainbow Wahine Shootout and UC Davis won 62-57.

LAST TIME OUT
• UC Davis scored just 11 points in the first half as UC Santa Barbara claimed a 58-43 win on Saturday at the Thunderdome.
Alyson Doherty and Heidi Johnson were UC Davis' leading scorers with nine points each... Doherty also grabbed six rebounds.

HOME "SWEET" HOME
• UC Davis returns to The Pavilion for the first time since Dec. 28 after playing the last four straight and six of the last seven on the road.
• The Aggies, however, are just 1-4 in home games in 2012-13 with their lone win coming against Santa Clara on Dec. 16.

• Despite Thursday's loss to Cal Poly, UC Davis had one of its best shooting nights of the year, hitting 26-of-51 field goals... The Aggies shot 51 percent from the field.
• The 26 field goals is the second-highest total for UC Davis this season... The Aggies made 27 field goals against CSU Bakersfield on Dec. 22.
• The .510 field goal percentage is also second-best this season... UC Davis shot 60 percent against CSU Bakersfield (27-45).

... AND THE LOWS
• Against UC Santa Barbara on Saturday, UC Davis scored just 43 points, the second-lowest total of the season after scoring 38 points against then-No. 1 Stanford.
• UC Davis made just 16 field goals which also stands as the second-lowest total of the year.
• The Aggies went 4-23 from three-point range, for a .174 shooting percentage which stands as a season-low.

LINE `EM UP
Molly Greubel made her first career start on Saturday at UC Santa Barbara as head coach Jennifer Gross used the sixth different line up of the year against Gauchos.
Sydnee Fipps and Blair Shinoda are the only Aggies to have started all 14 games in 2012-13.

ALY'S BLOCK PARTY
• Freshman Alyson Doherty needs just 14 more blocks to move into the single season top-10 list for blocks... Ellen Porshneva currently ranks tenth in a single season with 28 blocks in 2003-04.
• Doherty is averaging 1.2 blocks per game, ranking fifth in the Big West.
