W Heather Bates scored 18 points and W Haylee Donaghe added 17 for UC Davis in the loss... The Aggies are 1-3 at Mott Gym since the teams resumed their series in 2003-04 after an eight-year break.

ALL-TIME SERIES VS. UC SANTA BARBARA: The Gauchos lead UC Davis 9-2 in their all-time series and bring a three-game winning streak in the series into Saturday's matchup... Both of the Aggies' wins have come at home... The teams last played in the 1981-82 season before not playing until the 2004-05 season... Since then, UCSB has won five of six matchups with UC Davis' lone win coming 64-56 in the 2005-06 campaign... The Gauchos won 62-53 in overtime at The Pavilion on Jan. 24 after UC Davis rallied from a 14-point deficit in the first half... The Gauchos lead the league in six different categories, including scoring (69.7) and are among the top three in 14 overall... G JESSICA WILSON (12.8) is one of four Gauchos averaging in double figures and has a team-best 44 steals... Her 6.3 rpg average is also a team-high while her 22 three-pointers are second... SHA'RAE GIBBONS leads in that department with 29... UCSB (.427) is just behind leader UC Davis in field goal percentage in the Big West Conference and are also second to the Aggies in free throw percentage (.715)... The Gauchos have averaged 74.0 ppg over their last six games with the Aggies the last team to hold them under 70 points.

UC DAVIS 82, CAL STATE FULLERTON 55 (Recap): W Heather Bates scored 22 points, W Jessica Campbell added 18 and W HAYEE DONAGHE tallied 16 as UC Davis pulled away from Cal State Fullerton in the first half for a Big West Conference women's basketball win before 895 fans at The Pavilion on Saturday night... A 13-2 run after trailing 16-12 gave UC Davis a 25-18 lead with 6:36 left while a layup from Bates four minutes later helped the Aggies go up 36-25. The lead eventually grew to 17 points at halftime after two free throws from Campbell and a layup from Commins in the final minute... UC Davis, which shot 58.9 percent from the floor, had 25 assists on 33 baskets including seven for G Anna Harp... Campbell was a big part of the Aggies' first-half surge, scoring all 18 of her points before intermission.

THE MAGIC NUMBER: The Aggies have found success when keeping opponents below 60 points... How much success? How about perfection?... UC Davis is 11-0 when holding opponents to 59 points or less... In fact, the current five-game winning streak has built upon the mark with all five limited to 55 points or less... Opponents are averaging just 51.0 ppg during during the streak.

UC DAVIS IN TOP 10 FOR FREE THROWS: Thanks to a nine-game run in which the Aggies have shot 83.9 percent from the line (135 for 161), UC Davis has continued to rise up the Division I stat rankings... The Aggies entered the week a season-best No. 7... They've missed just 14 free throws in four February games and are closing in on their school-record 79.6 percentage from 2005-06, a mark that would've led Div. I had the Aggies been eligible to be officially ranked... Individually, W Jessica Campbell is 13th nationally (.874) while four of the five probable starters are each at 72 percent or better.

SPEAKING OF NATIONAL STATS: Free throws aren't the only stats where the Aggies are making their marks nationally... UC Davis is in the top 100 in five other categories overall... They are No. 17 in steals (12.0), No. 54 for field goal percentage (.432), No. 77 for scoring margin (+6.2), No. 88 for scoring defense (60.6 ppg) and No. 99 for winning percentage (.625).

THE NIGHT THE LIGHTS WENT OUT IN DAVIS: UC Davis endured a strange evening prior to its game against UC Irvine on Valentine's Day... At approximately 6 p.m., power was lost to the entire campus (as well as other local areas)... Not knowing when power would return, the teams loosely warmed up under emergency lighting while contingency plans were discussed... The lights finally came back on at 8:45 p.m. - more than 90 minutes after the scheduled 7 p.m. start - and the game tipped off at 9:20 p.m. with the game ending just after 11 p.m.

A SEASON OF STREAKS: Outside of a brief three-game streak during December, the Aggies have not alternated wins and losses for more than three games... They opened the season with a five-game winning streak, added a four-game run in January and enter this week with another five-game streak... The losses have also come in bunches... Losing streaks of three, four and two games account for their nine defeats this season.

UC DAVIS PILING UP THE STEALS: The Aggies lead the Big West and are ranked 17th nationally in steals at 12.0 pg... They've improved that total during the last eight games where they've had reached double-digits seven times and have averaged 12.8... Included were a season-high 22 swipes at Cal State Northridge on Feb. 9 and 16 against Pacific on Feb. 2... They have 29 in their last two games and have had at least 15 steals in five games this season.

CAMPBELL, PORSHNEVA RETURN AFTER REDSHIRTING: W Jessica Campbell and P Ellen Porshneva both redshirted during the 2006-07 season... Campbell was a planned redshirt while Porshneva was sidelined by injury... Both have returned to help the Aggies as seniors... Both are ranked among the all-time leading scorers at UC Davis, Campbell is a two-time Big West Player of the Week honoree this season, and Porshneva is shooting .917 from the line and is fifth in all-time scoring (1,216)... The return of the pair has helped give UC Davis its quality depth.

CAMPBELL INKING HER NAME ON CAREER CHARTS: W Jessica Campbell has been enjoying another standout season for the Aggies and is on pace to entrench her name further on the program's career lists... Her 1,299 points are third all-time after passing P AIMEE CONNOR (1989-93) last weekend... Campbell is now No. 9 for career assists with 257 and is No. 7 in blocks with 54, needing just three more to surpass Sarah Allen (1998-2003)... She is also just moved into the top 10 for rebounding and is No. 10 with 557... She now has her name on four of the Aggies' five major career lists.

CAMPBELL IS 13TH PLAYER TO REACH 1,000 IN CAREER POINTS: With 19 points against Portland State on Nov. 27, W Jessica Campbell became the 13th player in school history to score 1,000 for her career... The senior standout did it with a free throw with 7:42 left in the game... P Ellen Porshneva was the last UC Davis player to score 1,000 career points, doing so in the 2005-06 season.

SUCCESS AGAINST THE BIG WEST: UC Davis has played a full Big West Conference season for each of the past two years before becoming an official member this season... They went 11-5 in 2005-06, beating every team in the conference at least once, and would've tied for the regular-season Big West title had they officially counted in the standings... UC Davis finished 8-8 against Big West teams last year.

AWARDS, HONORS AND ACCOLADES: W Jessica Campbell, who averaged 18.5 ppg and 8.5 rpg in two wins against Cal State Fullerton and UC Irvine, was named the Big West Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season... She also won it on Dec. 22 after averaging 28.5 ppg in games vs. Saint Mary's and San Francisco... G Anna Harp was named the Big West Player of the Week after helping lead the Aggies to the Waikiki Beach Marriott Classic title at Hawaii... She averaged 14.7 points and 3.7 rebounds while coming off the bench and was named the tournament MVP.

SIMPSON NO. 2 FOR ALL-TIME AGGIE WINS: UC Davis HEAD COACH Sandy Simpson is securely No. 2 at UC Davis with 191 all-time wins (191-112 overall), just 14 away from tying former coach JORJA HOEHN (1988-97) who amassed a record of 205-51... Simpson, an assistant coach under Hoehn, passed former head coach PAM GILL-FISHER (12 yrs, 164-129) last season... He has a 105-47 career mark for conference games... Simpson's finest season came in 1996-97 when, serving as interim head coach for Hoehn, went 29-3 and led the Aggies to a third-place finish in the NCAA Div. II Championships.bigwest.org.
