No. 4 UC Davis (17-11, 9-7) vs. No. 5 Pacific (16-12, 9-7)

No. 4 UC Davis opens the 2012 Big West Conference Tournament on Tuesday, hosting No. 5 Pacific at 7 p.m. at The Pavilion in Davis.
The top four seeds - No. 1 Cal Poly, No. 2 Cal State Northridge, No. 3 UC Irvine and No. 4 UC Davis - are hosting the quarterfinal games at their home courts with the winners of each game advancing to the semifinals on Friday at the Honda Center in Anaheim.
No. 5 Pacific, No. 6 UC Santa Barbara, No. 7 Long Beach State and No. 8 Cal State Fullerton round out the seedings.
ALL-TIME VS. PACIFIC
UC Davis swept the regular season series against Pacific, winning 59-51 in Davis on Jan. 21 then rallying for a 65-61 win in Stockton on Feb. 25.
The Aggies now own a 12-8 all-time record against the Tigers.
UC Davis and Pacific have never met in the Big West Conference Tournament prior to Tuesday's game.
Jennifer Gross was named UC Davis' head coach on Oct. 8, 2010 after Sandy Simpson announced his retirement after 14 seasons... Gross was a Kodak All-American honorable mention point guard for the Aggies during her senior season in 1997-98... Prior to her appointment as head coach, she was an assistant at San Diego State before returning to her alma mater in 2004.
Lynne Roberts enters her sixth year as head coach of Pacific women's basketball... In just five season, Roberts has turned the Tigers into conference contenders as seen in last year's Big West Conference Tournament run... Pacific knocked off second-seeded UC Santa Barbara for a spot in the semifinals before falling to Cal Poly... Roberts has led Pacific to a season-best 16 victories in 2011-12.

THE NAME GAME
The university is referred to as either UC Davis or University of California, Davis.
Incorrect references include California-Davis, Cal-Davis, U.C. Davis, and UC-Davis... UCD is acceptable, although UC Davis is always preferred... Safe to say, there are no periods or hyphens anywhere in the name.
Pacific split its weekend games against UCSB and Cal Poly, topping the Gauchos 60-40 on Thursday before falling to Cal Poly 88-66 on Saturday.
With 69 made three-pointers this season, Ericka McKenzie leads the Big West with 2.5 three-pointers made per game, ranking her 43rd in the NCAA... She needs just six more treys to break the Tigers' single-season record of 74.
McKenzie, Kendall Rodriguez and Kendall Kenyon were named to the All-Big West teams... Rodriguez was a first-team pick, McKenzie was an honorable mention and Kenyon was an all-freshman selection.
Rodriguez has led Pacific in scoring and rebounding all year, averaging 12.8 points and 7.8 boards per game.
In Pacific's 11 losses this year, four have come by two possessions or less and eight have come by three possessions or less, including the Tigers' matchup against UC Davis in Davis... Pacific's three home losses have come by a combined nine points.
LAST TIME OUT
UC Davis topped Cal Poly 65-61 behind 15 points from Samantha Meggison and 11 from Hannah Stephens on Thursday... Lauren Juric tied a career-high with four blocks in the game.
The Aggies got off to a slow start on Saturday against UC Santa Barbara, giving the Gauchos a 14-0 lead to open the game en route to a 60-56 loss.
AGGIES IN THE BIG WEST TOURNAMENT
UC Davis is 5-3 in Big West Conference Tournament games.
The Aggies have advanced to the championship game in three of the last five seasons - 2008, 2010 and 2011... UC Davis lost in the quarterfinal round in 2009.
MEGGISON, STEPHENS RECEIVE ALL-BIG WEST HONORS
Samantha Meggison earned an spot on the All-Big West first team while Hannah Stephens was an honorable mention selection... Both players receive the nods for the first time in their Aggie careers.
Meggison was UC Davis' leading scorer and rebounder all year, averaging 11.2 points and 5.0 boards per game during the regular season.
Stephens is UC Davis' second-leading scorer at 9.5 points per game and owns a team-high 53 steals.
Samantha Meggison appeared in her 121st career game on Saturday, becoming UC Davis' all-time leader in career games played... She eclipses current head coach Jennifer Gross who held the previous record at 119 career games played.
Meggison scored in double digits for the fifth straight time on Saturday.
She put up a career-high 20 points on Feb. 16 against Long Beach State, then followed that with 19 points against Cal State Northridge on Feb. 18.
She hit a career-high 11 free throws against the Matadors... In both games combined, she shot 16-of-19 from the charity stripe.
In a Feb. 9 loss to UC Irvine, Meggison scored her first career double-double with 17 points and a career-high 11 rebounds.
JURIC'S BLOCK PARTY
Lauren Juric tied a career-high with four blocks against Cal Poly on Thursday.
She owns a team-leading 12 blocks in 12 games played in 2012.
Juric now ranks eighth all-time in career blocks at UC Davis with 63... With just two more, she can move into sole possession of seventh place and pass Kari Sivesind's 64 blocks (1992-96).
