OPENING TIPS
• UC Davis women's basketball makes its third appearance in five years at the Women's National Invitation Tournament, facing Oregon State at Gill Coliseum in Corvallis, Ore. on Thursday.
• The Aggies return to the postseason for the second straight year, but are still in search of their first-ever Div. I postseason victory.
• UC Davis advanced to the WNIT in 2008 and 2010, losing in the first round both years.
• Oregon State is playing in its ninth WNIT and is 12-6 all-time in its WNIT outings.

HEAD COACHES
Jennifer Gross was named UC Davis' head coach on Oct. 8, 2010 after Sandy Simpson announced his retirement after 14 seasons... Gross was a Kodak All-American honorable mention point guard for the Aggies during her senior season in 1997-98... Prior to her appointment as head coach, she was an assistant at San Diego State before returning to her alma mater in 2004.

• Scott Rueck was tabbed the 2012 Pac-12 Media Coach of the Year after taking Oregon State to an 18-12 record after finishing the 2010-11 season at just 9-21... In just his second year with the Beavers, Rueck's team set school records for largest margin of victory with a 96-32 win over Western Oregon on Nov. 11... He earned his 300th career win on Nov. 17 against Cal State Northridge.

• The university is referred to as either UC Davis or University of California, Davis.
• Incorrect references include California-Davis, Cal-Davis, U.C. Davis, and UC-Davis... UCD is acceptable, although UC Davis is always preferred... Safe to say, there are no periods or hyphens anywhere in the name.

SCOUTING OREGON STATE
• With an 18-12 overall record, Oregon State women's basketball has completed one of the biggest turnarounds in Div. I... The Beavers posted just nine wins in 2010-11.
• The Beavers, however, have dropped five of their last six games, including a 65-56 loss to Washington State in the quarterfinals of the Pac-12 Tournament.
• Behind junior Patricia Bright's 3.4 blocks per game, Oregon State ranks 14th in Div. I for blocked shots per game at 5.5.
• Earlysia Marchbanks and freshman Ali Gibson are each averaging 12.3 points per game... Marchbanks has recorded five double doubles this year while Gibson scored 11.9 ppg during Pac-12 play.
• Oregon State is 15-2 when it holds its opponents to 60 points or fewer and 15-4 when scoring at least 60 points in a game... The Beavers are 8-0 when scoring at least 70.

LAST TIME OUT
• UC Davis dropped a 59-51 decision to Pacific in the quarterfinals of the Big West Tournament on Mar. 6 at The Pavilion in Davis.
• Three Aggies scored in double digits: Cortney French (11), Kasey Riecks (11) and Hana Asano (10).

AGGIES IN THE WNIT
• UC Davis makes its third appearance in five years to the WNIT, having also advanced in 2008 and 2010.
• The Aggies have yet to get past the first round of games, however, dropping an 81-60 decision to Gonzaga in 2008... UC Davis took Cal to overtime at Haas Pavilion in 2010, but fell 74-69.

AGGIES IN THE POSTSEASON
• With four postseason appearances in five years at the NCAA Division I level, UC Davis is continuing a tradition it enjoyed during its Div. II era which ended in 2003.
• From 1986-1999, UC Davis went to 12 NCAA Div. II Tournaments, including 10 straight ending in 1999.
• The Aggies finished third nationally in 1997, finishing with a program rest 29-3 record and 20-game winning streak.

Blair Shinoda started 18 games this season in place of an injured Lauren Juric... With Shinoda in the lineup, UC Davis went 10-8.
• Upon Juric's return, UC Davis is 7-4 in games the 6-foot-2 senior has started.

MEGGISON, STEPHENS RECEIVE ALL-BIG WEST HONORS
Samantha Meggison earned an spot on the All-Big West first team while Hannah Stephens was an honorable mention selection... Both players receive the nods for the first time in their Aggie careers.
• Meggison was UC Davis' leading scorer and rebounder all year, averaging 11.2 points and 5.0 boards per game during the regular season.
• Stephens is UC Davis' second-leading scorer at 9.5 points per game and owns a team-high 53 steals.

MAGNIFICENT MEGGISON
Samantha Meggison appeared in her 122nd career game on Mar. 6 against Pacific and is UC Davis' all-time leader in career games played... She eclipsed current head coach Jennifer Gross who held the previous record at 119 career games played.
• Meggison also owns a streak of 62 consecutive starts that dates back to Nov. 12, 2010.
• She was named to the All-Big West Conference first team for the first time in her UC Davis career.

JURIC'S BLOCK PARTY
Lauren Juric tied a career-high with four blocks against Cal Poly on Mar. 1.
• She owns a team-leading 13 blocks in 13 games played in 2011-12.
• Juric is tied for seventh all-time in career blocks with 1996 alum Kari Sivesind with 64.

STEALING THE SHOW
• UC Davis currently leads the Big West in steals, averaging 10.5 takeaways per game.
• The Aggies have achieved double digit steals in five of their last seven games, including 10 on Mar. 6 against Pacific.
Hannah Stephens (55), Hana Asano (49) and Samantha Meggison (47) rank fifth, eighth, and ninth respectively in steals in the Big West Conference.

AGGIES IN THE NCAA RPI
• UC Davis is ranked No. 146 in the NCAA RPI.
• Pacific is No. 126, the highest-ranked Big West team, while Cal Poly is No. 155.
• The Aggies debuted at No. 87 out of 342 teams.
