DAVIS, Calif. - What started on Friday night by the Sacramento River Cats at Raley Field will continue Sunday afternoon when the Sacramento Kings honor UC Davis men’s and women’s basketball for their outstanding seasons, and successful postseason runs.
Weather permitting, two members of each team will join basketball fans outside Golden 1 Center to shoot baskets on the plaza. Once the doors open, keep an eye out for coaches and student-athletes from both teams during the Kings Tip Off, a pregame in-arena show hosted by Henry Turner and Scott Moak, which will take place before the Kings and Rockets tip at 3 p.m.
Women’s basketball, by winning a Big West regular-season title, earned a berth in the Women’s National Invitation Tournament. Once postseason play began, the Aggies defeated Utah and Colorado State, both on the road, and advanced to the Sweet 16.
The men advanced to the NCAA Division I Tournament after winning the Big West Conference Tournament for the first time in program history. Once they arrived to the Big Dance, they advanced to the Midwest Regional First Round after collecting their first D-I postseason victory in the First Four.
