Prior to her appointment as head coach, she was an assistant at San Diego State before returning to her alma mater in 2004.

Last year Saint Mary's notched a 19-win season and advanced to the West Coast Conference tournament championship game, its first since the 2000-01 season... In 2009-10, Thomas led the Gaels to 21 wins, the most since the 2000-01 season, a second-place finish in the West Coast Conference and an appearance in the WNIT.
