UC Davis returns to the road to compete in its second tournament of the year, the Women of Troy Classic, hosted by USC at the Galen Center in Los Angeles Dec. 21-22.
The Aggies will first take on the host Trojans on Friday at 5 p.m. before facing CSU Bakersfield on Saturday at 2:30 p.m... Duke, ranked No. 4 nationally, is the fourth team competing at the Women of Troy Classic.
UC Davis snapped a two-game losing streak with a 70-59 win over Santa Clara on Dec. 16.
Sydnee Fipps led all scorers with 19 points in her seventh straight double-digit scoring effort of the year.
Alyson Doherty led all players in rebounding with 11 boards in just 19 minutes of action.
USC is 3-5 overall after three straight losses, including a 79-61 loss to No. 23 Texas A&M on Dec. 15.
The Women of Troy are led by Cassie Harberts who scored 19 points and grabbed 8 boards against Texas A&M... She is averaging 16.9 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.
Friday marks the first meeting in program history between UC Davis and USC. CSU Bakersfield has dropped its last three straight games... The Roadrunners host Santa Clara on Dec. 19.
The Roadrunners are led by Amber Williams who is averaging 13.7 points per game... Tyonna Outland is scoring 12.7 points per game while Janae Coffee is the team's leading rebounder at 8.3 boards per game.
Jennifer Gross begins her second season as head coach of the UC Davis women's basketball team after leading the Aggies to their third consecutive postseason appearance in 2011-12... In her first year at the helm of the program, the Aggies saw several milestones including Kasey Riecks' 1000th career point and Samantha Meggison and Hannah Stephens' selections to the All-Big West Conference team.
Michael Cooper took over the USC program in 2009 after finishing his eighth season as head coach of the Los Angeles Sparks... In just his second season with the Women of Troy, he led the team to the WNIT title march and a 24-13 overall record.
Greg McCall took the reins of the CSU Bakersfield program in 2011-12 after spending four years as an assistant coach... During his time on the Roadrunners staff, he has helped guide the team to a pair of postseason appearances and a 22-12 record in 2010-11.
Both games will be broadcast live on KDVS 90.3 FM with Greg Cotta and Brandon O'Shea on the call.

USC SCOUTING REPORT
USC has dropped three straight games and four of its last five, most recently dropping a 79-61 decision to No. 23 Texas A&M on Dec. 15.
Cassie Harberts is the Women of Troy's leading scorer at 16.9 points per game... She scored 19 points and grabbed 8 boards against Texas A&M.
Sophomore Ariya Crook is averaging 14.3 points per game after scoring just 5.2 points per game as a freshman last year.
The Women of Troy returns 52 percent of its scoring and 52 percent of its rebounding from the 2011-12 season.
USC's freshman class ranks No. 14 in the nation on the recruiting charts... 2012 McDonald's All-American Jordan Adams is scoring 5.3 points per game.
Friday's game marks the first meeting in program history between USC and UC Davis.
SCOUTING CSU BAKERSFIELD
The Roadrunners' lone wins of the season have come against Northern Arizona on Nov. 12 (71-68) and at UC Irvine on Dec. 9 (71-64).
CSU Bakersfield has played six of its last seven games on the road, but return home to host Santa Clara on Dec. 19 at 7 p.m.
The Roadrunners will begin membership in the Western Athletic Conference in fall 2013.
Amber Williams is CSU Bakersfield's leading scorer at 13.7 points per game... She currently ranks fourth all-time in career scoring at CSU Bakersfield which began a women's basketball program in 2000-01.
Tyonna Outland is the second-leading scorer for the Roadrunners at 12.7 points per game.
Williams and Outland are the only two players who have started all 11 games... 10 different CSUB players have started a game this season.
CSU Bakersfield owns an 8-2 series advantage over UC Davis... Saturday's game is the first meeting between the teams since the 2009-10 season when the Aggies topped the `Runners 79-76.
The teams met twice a year from 2000-01 until 2003-04 before picking up the matchup again in 2008-09.
UC Davis has won the first meeting and the last meeting between the teams.
LAST TIME OUT
Sydnee Fipps scored 19 points while Alyson Doherty grabbed 11 rebounds in a 70-59 win over Santa Clara on Dec. 16 in Davis for the Aggies' first home win of the year.
Every player who recorded minutes against the Broncos scored at least three points and recorded at least one rebound.
The win snapped a two-game losing streak for UC Davis.
STEALING THE SHOW
UC Davis continues to rank in the top-10 nationally in steals per game... The Aggies are eighth and average 14.4 steals per game.
Despite just 10 steals against Santa Clara, the Aggies also forced the Broncos into 18 turnovers and scored 24 points off of those turnovers.
Blair Shinoda and Sydnee Fipps rank nationally in steals per game as well at 2.57 steals each... They rank 116th nationally.
Six Aggies have recorded double-digit steals on the year... Fipps and Shinoda lead the way with 18 each, ranking fourth in the Big West... Aniya Baker and Molly Greubel have 12 steals each and are tied for 10th in the conference.
UC Davis is hitting 7.1 three pointers per game, ranking the Aggies 32nd in the nation and second in the Big West.
Fipps is shooting .389 from long range after draining three treys against Santa Clara on Dec. 16... She ranks 71st in Div. I in three-point field goal percentage and fourth in the Big West in three-point field goals made (2.0 per game).
Against Santa Clara on Dec. 16, UC Davis was 7-of-15 from three-point range in the first half alone (46.7).
DOHERTY'S BIG BOARDS
Freshman Alyson Doherty returned to action on Dec. 16 against Santa Clara in a big way, grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds, seven of which came in the first half.
She is the first Aggie to record a double-digit scoring effort in the 2012-13 season.
The 11 boards is the most since Samantha Meggison had 11 rebounds against UC Irvine on Feb. 9, 2012.
HOLD THAT LEAD
For just the second time season, UC Davis took a lead into halftime, then did not relinquish the lead to defeat Santa Clara 70-59 on Dec. 16.
The game featured just two lead changes, both of which came in the first half... The Broncos took a 10-8 lead at the 12:37 mark of the first half... UC Davis reclaimed the lead with 3:37 left to play, going up 23-22 on an Alyson Doherty free throw.
UC Davis would not trail again after the 3:37 mark.
The Aggies also held their largest lead over any opponent this season, going up by 19 points with 12:48 left in the second half after Blair Shinoda's three.
THE WILD, WILD BIG WEST
UC Davis opens up Big West Conference action on Jan. 5 at Pacific.
The Aggies will play three straight road games to open up league play before returning to The Pavilion on Jan. 17.
