STANFORD, Calif. - Becky Dru scored a pair of goals, both in the first seven minutes of play, to help No. 20 Stanford take a 3-1 win over UC Davis Friday, at the Varsity Field Hockey Turf in Stanford.
The win helped the Cardinal improve to a 2-0 overall, with a 2-0 mark in conference play. The Aggies dropped to 0-2 on the young season, after a loss in their first NorPac contest. Lindsey Valadez scored the lone goal for UC Davis, making it a 2-1 deficit at halftime, before Emily Henricksson gave Stanford a comfortable lead with a goal in the 46th minute of play.

Dru's back-to-back goals came on a penalty corner, followed by a solo finish at the cage. Valadez answered after a corner for the Aggies in the 22nd minute of play, making it a one-goal game at the intermission.
Lauren Sawvelle kept UC Davis in the game from there, recording a career high 16 saves. Henricksson's second half goal gave Stanford some breathing room, before the final 3-1 score.
The Cardinal out shot the Aggies 25-3, while holding an 11-2 advantage in penalty corners.
The Aggies will look to bounce back when they travel to play California in NorPac action on Sunday at 1 p.m.
