ANN ARBOR, Mich. — UC Davis goalkeeper Chelsea Bigelow posted yet another double digit effort during Sunday’s match, notching 14 saves against the Wolverines. But the Aggie offense could not keep pace with the No. 7 Wolverines, resulting in a 9-0 win for Michigan over UC Davis.
Michigan will enter their next contest against Michigan State with a 4-2 record overall. The Aggies will look to face Bryant University on Sept. 15 with an 0-6 mark.
The Michigan offense proved they are a force to be reckoned with during Sunday’s match, posting five goals in the first half and four goals in the second. The Wolverines also demonstrated their lineups' scoring depth, with seven different players responsible for Michigan’s nine goals.
GO BIG OR GO HOME
Sophomore goalkeeper Chelsea Bigelow delivered outstanding back-to-back performances in goal for UC Davis this weekend. Bigelow followed up her 13-save effort in Saturday’s match against William and Mary with 14 saves on Sunday against the No. 7 Wolverines.
Bigelow tallied an impressive 27 saves during the Aggies’ two-game stint in Ann Arbor this weekend. Her saves total for the 2017 season now resides at 57.
Bigelow has found her way into the UC Davis all-time record books for saves in a game not one, not two, but three times. Her 15-save effort against Syracuse has her tied for third, her 14-save match against Michigan placed her fifth, and her 13-save effort against William and Mary has her tied for sixth. Bigelow has posted record worthy efforts in three of six games for the 2017 season.
WHAT’S TO COME
The next two games on the schedule will take the Aggies to Providence, Rhode Island where they will finish off their four-game road trip. The Aggies will first face Bryant University in a neutral-site match on Friday Sept. 15 at 8 a.m. (PT). Then on Sept. 17, UC Davis will take on Providence at 8 a.m. (PT).
