STANFORD, Calif. - No. 13 Stanford defeated UC Davis, 11-1, Saturday afternoon in a NorPac Conference field hockey game at the Varsity Field Hockey Turf in Stanford. The Cardinal scored seven goals in the first half and remained in first place in the NorPac West. Liz Siemion scored her team-leading fourth goal of the year to account for the Aggies' lone goal.
Midori Uehara, who entered the week as the leading goal scorer in the NorPac, led Stanford with three goals. Camille Gandhi and Xanthe Travlos each scored two goals to help lead the Cardinal attack. Stanford (12-2, 4-1 NorPac) scored three times in the opening six minutes to take early control of the contest.
Siemion put UC Davis (3-11, 0-4 NorPac) on the board with 13:39 remaining in the game. The freshman dribbled through the defense and beat the keeper with her only shot of the game.
Stanford outshot UC Davis, 33-6, and owned a 10-5 advantage in penalty corners. Lindsey Valadez finished with two shots for the Aggies. Lydia Brambila, Casey Wollbrinck and Nadia Namdari were also credited with a shot.
UC Davis return to action Oct. 25 when it takes on Cal in its home finale at Aggie Stadium. The game begins at 1 p.m.
